How Much Drywall Calculator

If you’re trying to figure out how much drywall (or sheetrock, backerboard, etc) you’ll need for a project, this drywall calculator will give you an estimated breakdown of all the supplies you might need based on the square footage of your project.  Supplies are broken down into sheet rock, drywall screws, tape, and mud (joint compound),

It will also provide an estimate of what a drywall contractor might charge, based on a fee of between $40 – $60 per panel (per HomeAdvisor).

How do I calculate how much drywall I need?

To calculate how much drywall you need, you would multiply the length and width of your room by the height of the walls to get total square footage.  Because most drywall sheets come in 4′ x 8′ sections, you would divide your total square footage by 32 to find the total number of drywall sheets you will need.  Or just let the calculator figure it out for you.

How Many Sheets Of Drywall For A House

There’s really no accurate way of determining how many sheets of drywall you will need for an entire house based on its total square footage.  It depends on the the number of walls, the height of the walls and their total square footage.  A home with an open floor plan would need significantly less drywall than a typical home.  A home with 10 foot high ceilings would need 20% more drywall per wall than a home with 8 foot ceilings.
